About the role
Canyon View High School is seeking a Part-Time Level II Special Education Paraprofessional to work 27.5 hours per week. This position is under the direction of the Special Education Teacher to provide education and related services to students with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide instructional support assistance to students and student groups to reinforce and follow up on learning activities.
- Assist in observing and recording behavior patterns and follow appropriate techniques to reinforce acceptable behavior.
- Assist certified educators with the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises.
- Assist in responsibility for procedures related to physical and medical needs.
- Depending on position, assist students with learning self-care techniques, including toilet training, bathing, and personal cleanliness; may assist in diapering, toilet training, feeding, and other self-help skills if needed.
- Participate in the development, maintenance, and carrying out of systems for classroom management.
- Guide students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students.
- Supervise students in all areas of the school, including inside and outside the building during lunch hour.
- Operate various types of office equipment such as computers, copy machines, etc.
- Monitor students to ensure regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance.
Requirements
- Must be able to lift and support students, change protective clothing, and implement behavior management plans.
- Must be able to operate adaptive equipment (wheelchairs, etc.).
- Must communicate effectively with students and staff.
- Must have basic computer knowledge, be familiar with Google Docs, and check email frequently.
- Must be willing to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed.
Schedule
27.5 hours per week.
