Part Time Level II Special Education Paraprofessional
About the role
The Iron County School District seeks to fill 5 Part Time Level II Special Education Paraprofessional positions at South Elementary beginning in August for the 2026-2027 school year. These positions are open until filled.
Responsibilities
- Lift and support students
- Change protective clothing
- Implement behavior management plans
- Operate adaptive equipment (wheelchairs, etc.)
- Communicate effectively with students and staff
- Provides instructional support assistance to students and student groups
- Assists in observing and recording behavior patterns
- Assists certified educators with the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises
- Assists in responsibility for procedures related to physical and medical needs
- May assist students in learning self-care techniques, including toilet training, bathing, and personal cleanliness
- Guides students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students
- Supervises students in all areas of the school
- Operates various types of office equipment such as computers, copy machines, etc.
- Maintains regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and job performance
- Monitors students during lunch hour
Requirements
Basic computer knowledge, familiarity with Google docs, and frequent email checking are required. Willingness to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed is also necessary.
Qualifications
Must have a valid Idaho teaching license or be eligible to obtain one within 90 days of hire. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required. Previous experience working with special education students is preferred but not required.
Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a passion for supporting students with disabilities are essential.

Hours vary, ranging from 4-27.5 hours per week to 1-13.75 hours per week.
