About the role
The USC School of Architecture invites applicants for a part-time faculty position in Structural Design and Engineering to lead a unique joint Civil Engineering and Building Science Design Studio for Spring 2027.
Responsibilities
- Teach an upper-level undergraduate capstone design studio integrating architectural, structural, and civil engineering design
- Course will include evaluation, design, and analysis of building loads, including gravity, wind, and seismic load
- Apply appropriate quantitative analysis techniques, including software-based analysis tools, in the context of the architectural and engineering design process
Requirements
- Master of Science degree, or equivalent
- S.E. and/or P.E. license
Qualifications
- Demonstrate understanding of the state of the art of structural engineering
- Demonstrate understanding of current code requirements, building systems, controls, building standards, and sustainability performance criteria
- Preference given to candidates with a proven track record of professional work
- Experience with contemporary digital design software tools preferred
- Experience in adaptation and reusability, including heritage conservation, preferred
Pay
Core salary range: $50.75 - $69.79 per hour. This is a part-time, 35% position.
