About the role

The department of Mathematics and Statistics at SJSU has 4 undergraduate programs and 3 graduate programs. In addition, we also train students who are pursuing a single subject credential in Mathematics.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate mathematics and mathematics education courses
  • Serve as a mentor and supervisor for student teachers
  • Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Teach in various high impact pedagogical approaches
  • Understand and address the needs of a diverse student population
  • Teach college math courses
  • Have experience teaching college math courses
  • Have local high school teaching experience
  • Have expertise in CalTPA, the Teaching Performance Assessment required by student teachers in the credential program
  • Have evidence of good oral and written communication skills
  • Be committed to student learning and team performance

Requirements

  • A Master's or Master of Arts degree in mathematics (or applied mathematics or statistics)
  • A California single subject teaching credential in Mathematics
  • Local high school teaching experience
  • Experience teaching college math courses
  • Working knowledge of the requirements involved in student teaching required for the credential program
  • Expertise in CalTPA, the Teaching Performance Assessment required by student teachers in the credential program
  • Evidence of good oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to student learning and team performance
