Part-Time Lecturer of Technical Communication

About the role

The University of Southern California is seeking a part-time faculty member for the Engineering in Society Program within the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. The position involves teaching WRIT 340 – Advanced Writing and Critical Engagement for Engineering, a writing course that fulfills the university’s advanced writing requirement.

Responsibilities

• Teach WRIT 340 – Advanced Writing and Critical Engagement for Engineering
• Contribute to the development and improvement of the Engineering in Society Program
• Engage with students in a supportive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

• Experience teaching composition at the university level
• Strong oral communication and technical writing skills

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree preferred, Ph.D. required

Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to teach diverse student populations effectively
• Experience with technical writing and critical engagement

Benefits

• Part-time faculty appointment effective Spring 2027, starting January 1, 2027
• Core salary range: $3,477.60 - $3,581.92 per unit
