Part-Time Labor and Delivery Nurse

Role Overview

The Labor and Delivery Nurse provides direct patient care, ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment by utilizing effective communication and nursing assessments. They develop individualized care plans, perform technical skills, and participate in performance improvement activities, aligning with the hospital's mission and vision. As a charge nurse, they oversee daily operations, assign staff based on patient acuity, serve as a clinical resource, and respond promptly to staff, physician, or patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize therapeutic communication and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Apply age-specific knowledge in assessment and care.
• Document all patient care accurately using the nursing process.
• Perform technical procedures and demonstrate critical thinking.

Qualifications & Skills

• Registered Nurse license with a degree from an accredited school.
• Minimum one year of RN experience; Labor and Delivery experience preferred.
• Certifications including BLS, ACLS, NRP, and CPI (within specified timeframes).
• Knowledge of human development, assessment, and patient care protocols.
• Current licensure in Tennessee or a compact state.
