Part-time Instructor (Pool) - Institute for National Security and Military Studies

About the role

The Department of Criminal Justice and the Institute for National Security and Military Studies at Austin Peay State University are continuously taking applications for adjunct or temporary instructor positions for all semesters. Instructors are needed both in person and online for areas including Intelligence Analysis, Research Methods, Security Analysis, National Security Foundations and Strategy, International Security Dynamics, Military Studies and Defense Policy, and International Law, Ethics, and Human Rights. The department offers a Bachelor’s and a Master of Science in criminal justice (each with an optional homeland security concentration) and hosts the bachelor degree in National Security Studies, enrolling about 40 undergraduate majors. Courses are delivered via face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid/blended formats. The department is among the university’s largest. Requirements

Physical Requirements: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in National Security Studies, Intelligence Studies, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, or other related fields is required; a Master’s degree in a related field must be accompanied by 18 hours of graduate work in the area of national security. A background search will be required of the successful applicant.

Qualifications

Desired Qualifications: An ability to teach a wide range of national security studies courses. Demonstrated experience teaching across various delivery methods (online, hybrid, face‑to‑face, etc.).
