Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Possess the knowledge, talents, and skills in their functional areas, and in multiple teaching methodologies including conventional, online, hybrid, flipped, and blended courses.
  • Demonstrate respect for the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement curriculum objectives and content for the courses taught.
  • Demand and maintain high standards and expectations for all students.
  • Develop and implement evaluation and assessment techniques that are appropriate for each course.
  • Use multiple measures to assess student learning on a regular basis and provide frequent feedback to students relative to their performance.
  • Be qualified under College of Business policy and consistent with AACSB standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of an earned master’s degree in economics, or in a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in economics,
  • Alternatively, Master’s Degree in Business, and 3+ years of professional experience related to economics, and
  • Classification as Instructional Practitioner (IP, defined in the appendix**) according to AACSB accreditation standards.

A background check will be required of the successful candidate.

Appendix

Instructional Practitioners (IP) classification requires:

  • A faculty member had current and substantial work experience (generally exceeding three years in a supervisory role) related to the field of teaching at the time of hiring,
  • The faculty member has earned at least six professional engagement points within the last five years.

Professional Engagement Points

  • Each full year of relevant professional work experience (3 points per activity) • Directly related to the field of teaching • Full-time employment • Substantive in responsibility (generally should be in a managerial role)
  • Maintain documented, active professional certifications in the area of teaching
  • Significant professional consulting activities (2 points per activity) • Directly related to the field of teaching • Material in terms of time and substance
  • Development and presentation of executive education programs
  • Evidence of significant participation/leadership in professional associations (maximum of 3 points per position)
  • Significant participation in professional events that focus on the practice of business, management, and related issues
  • Significant participation in other activities that place faculty in direct engagement with business or other organizational leaders
  • Publishation of practice-oriented intellectual contributions
  • Presentation at professional (not academic) meeting
