Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and model a quality learning environment to support a diverse student population including students with disabilities or special learning needs.
  • Maintain student records and provide documentation for in-completes within established College timelines.
  • Utilize a variety of technology-based programs to access and input information related to student records and college/school/department processes.
  • Absorb and implement digital humanities practices and/or practices guided by critical pedagogy or other equity pedagogies in History instruction.
  • Teach in hybrid or online teaching in either synchronous or asynchronous modes.
  • Relate and explain complex subject matter to first- and second-year college students.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in History (or closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in History) from an accredited institution (must be conferred before beginning instruction).
  • Minimum of two semesters of recent college instructional experience in lower division History OR documented completion of college teaching or college classroom management training.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching at institutions with diverse student populations or experience working in educational programs focused on marginalized communities.
  • Experience teaching surveys of Western Civilization in a post-secondary teaching environment.
  • Experience utilizing a variety of teaching methods including lecture, collaborative learning, and individualized instruction.
  • Experience relating and explaining complex subject matter to first- and second-year college students.

  • Ability to relate and explain complex subject matter to first- and second-year college students.
  • Experience teaching in hybrid or online teaching in either synchronous or asynchronous modes.
  • Experience teaching surveys of Western Civilization in a post-secondary teaching environment.

Schedule

Classes are assigned on an as-needed basis. Hours will vary each class and by term. The number of openings for instructors is dependent upon student enrollment.
