Overview
Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center is seeking a Float Infusion RN to join their team at their Albany and Corvallis, OR locations. The ideal candidate will have IV skills, prior oncology experience, and strong multi-tasking abilities.
Responsibilities
- Administers chemotherapy, hydration, and other medications under the direction of a physician or APP.
- Maintains efficient patient flow in and out of the infusion room.
- Affirms patient condition changes, including abnormal labs, drug reactions, and initiates appropriate actions.
- Completes chemotherapy charge forms, obtains pre-authorization, and ensures appropriate consent forms.
- Uses ambulatory infusion pumps correctly, maintains them, and documents pump usage.
- Performs venipunctures, accesses implanted ports, and maintains central lines.
- Administers medications and blood products accurately, ensuring correct dosage, route, time, and technique.
- Connects portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery and educates patients/caregivers on pump use.
- Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching, and fluid and medication administration.
- Communicates pertinent information to physicians and ensures accurate nursing charges.
- Assists medical assistants and provides teaching materials to patients and families.
- Assists with patient referrals and provides nursing coverage for satellite offices.
- Maintains confidentiality and follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents and biohazardous waste.
- May cross-cover at multiple locations as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree with at least three (3) years of nursing experience.
- Current OCN certification preferred.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
- CPR/BLS certification required.
- Maintains continuing education requirements.
