Part Time Front Desk Agent
About the role
The Element Overland Park is seeking a Part Time Front Desk Agent. This position offers a genuine memorable guest experience, focusing on transaction handling, local insights, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Register guests and assign rooms.
- Accommodate special requests whenever possible.
- Assist in preregistration and room blockings for reservations.
- Understand and adhere to proper credit, check-cashing, and cash handling policies and procedures.
- Thoroughly understand and adhere to proper credit, check-cashing, and cash handling policies and procedures.
- Know room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates.
- Presents options and alternatives to guests and offers assistance in making choices.
- Uses suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel.
- Knows the location and types of available rooms as well as the activities and services of the property.
- Collaborates with the housekeeping department to update room status and coordinate requests for maintenance and repair work.
- Takes same day and future reservations when necessary.
- Knows cancellation procedures.
- Uses proper telephone etiquette.
- Uses proper mail, package, and message handling procedures.
- Attends department meetings.
- Reports any unusual occurrences or requests to the manager or assistant manager.
- Maintains the cleanliness and neatness of the front desk area.
- Understands that business demands sometimes require moving employees from their accustomed shifts.
Requirements
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous hotel-related experience desired.
- Physical: Requires fingering, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, hearing, and visual acuity, and may on occasion have to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
