About the Role

This part-time position involves routine food preparation, food service, and cleaning of food service and eating areas at the Wahsega 4-H Center in Dahlonega. Employees work under direct supervision, following written and/or oral procedures and practices, particularly related to safety and food safety. The role reports to the 4-H Dining Commons Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Serve food at the dining hall; set up buffet lines and serve individual plates; interact with customers from young children to senior citizens. 35% of time
  • Clean and sanitize the work area, operate a commercial dishwasher; clean chairs, tables, service lines, floors, windows, baseboards, blinds, walkways, and walls of the food service building. 35% of time
  • Assist cooks in preparing and cooking food; assist with preparation of menu items. 20% of time
  • Perform other tasks as assigned. 10% of time

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate.
  • Ability to bend at the waist and knees, lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs., stand for prolonged periods, and work with arms and hands overhead.
  • Ability to work in and around heat of kitchen and appliances, as well as in cold coolers/freezers when storing and retrieving stock.
  • Direct interaction with children under the age of 18.
