Part-Time Food Service Specialist - IDEA Judson (Immediate Opening)

Professional food service specialist assisting with the operation of a food preparation and service establishment, serving customers, stocking supplies, operating equipment, maintaining clean areas, and handling point-of-sale transactions under the supervision of the Cafeteria Manager.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation, food safety, and food quality assurance for students.
• Provide customer service and interact daily with staff, students, and families.
• Operate food service equipment and maintain food service spaces; notify manager of equipment malfunctions.
• Perform cafeteria cleaning duties: sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, washing dishes, disposing of trash, and moving cafeteria tables and mobile work vending stations.
• Load and unload food and non-food products weekly.
• Encourage students to participate in the meal program, especially when they are seen not eating.
• Ensure accurate counts of student meals as they are delivered.
• Ensure reimbursable meals are offered to students.
• Prepare meals according to campus meal schedules for breakfast, lunch, snack, and supper.
• Follow all recipes and report errors to the Cafeteria Manager.
• Adhere to established processes and procedures; discuss exceptions with the Cafeteria Manager.
• Monitor students during meal periods (e.g., appropriate behavior, encouraging consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables, preventing food sharing).
• Cut and chop fruits and vegetables.

Requirements

• 1+ years of work experience demonstrating the ability to handle physical activity for multiple hours while on feet.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds solo and up to 50 pounds with a partner, bend, pull, push, twist, stand, and walk during a work shift.
• Ability to obtain a locally-recognized manager food safety certification.

Physical Requirements

• Intermittent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.
• Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing (e.g., ladders).

• Ability to move and handle mixed weights, including cafeteria tables, carts, and trash cans/bags.

Pay

Hourly rate ranging from $15.30 (0 years of experience) to $17.60. Eligible for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment.
