Part-time Food Service Assistant

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve smoothies, sandwiches, snacks, and other café menu items according to established recipes and food safety standards
• Operate the POS system, process customer transactions, and maintain accurate cash handling procedures
• Assist customers in a friendly and professional manner while providing menu information and recommendations
• Restock food, beverages, condiments, supplies, and retail displays throughout the shift
• Monitor product quality, rotate inventory using FIFO practices, and remove expired items
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, equipment, dining areas, and service counters
• Support lunch rush and other peak service periods by working efficiently and assisting where needed
• Follow departmental safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and HACCP standards
• Perform other duties as assigned to support café operations

Qualifications

• No directly related experience required
• Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent
• Preferred: Previous customer service, cashier, retail, café, restaurant, or food service experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift, carry, and stock food products and supplies
• Ability to bend, reach, push, and pull carts or equipment as needed
• Ability to work in a busy retail food service environment

Pay

Expected Starting Pay Range: $16.50 - $19.80. Starting pay is based on experience, skills, and equity; exceptions may apply for highly qualified candidates. Additional pay (e.g., shift, on‑call, or weekend differentials) and benefits may apply. Annual pay may vary based on FTE status.

Schedule

Part-time, 20 hours per week. Hours: Monday-Friday 10:30a-2:30p.
