About the Role
The Undergraduate (UG) Communications Design (ComD) department at Pratt Institute is seeking part-time teaching faculty to join our candidate pool for the Spring 2026 semester. We aim to educate students to become creative and responsible design leaders who drive positive change in our discipline, communities, society, and the environment. Our graduates excel in dynamic art, communications, systems, and products, leveraging diverse perspectives and experiences.
Responsibilities
- Teach part-time courses in the UG Communications Design department, focusing on areas such as dynamic imagery (motion graphics, digital animation, AfterEffects, etc.) and/or digital 3D prototyping (Blender, Cinema 4D, etc.).
- Instruct students across both Graphic Design and Illustration concentrations.
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative learning environment by leveraging strong interpersonal skills and intercultural competence.
- Engage with diverse student populations to promote responsible design leadership.
Requirements
- Professional degree in communication design or a relevant field.
- College-level teaching experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated intercultural competence.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Broad vision of the future of the design field and the ability to articulate that vision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge in dynamic imagery (motion graphics, digital animation, AfterEffects, etc.) and/or digital 3D prototyping (Blender, Cinema 4D, etc.).
- Professional portfolio demonstrating relevant skills.
- Student project samples.
