Part-Time Faculty Specializing in Phlebotomy - School of Allied Health

About the role

This position requires meeting the minimum requirements for the position, including relevant service in or outside the University. The role is not eligible for tenure.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill teaching responsibilities of assigned courses for an appointed term
• Prepare and deliver curriculum in accordance with university and accreditation standards
• Serve as a supervisor and evaluator of students' clinical performance in lab settings or clinical rotations
• Stay current on advances in phlebotomy practices and integrate them into the curriculum
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and performance

Requirements

• Required Education: Associate degree in a Allied Health related field
• Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a healthcare or education-related field
• Required Certifications: Current certification as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent from a recognized accrediting organization
• Required Experience: A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience as a phlebotomist in a clinical, hospital, or laboratory setting

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of Venipuncture techniques
• Familiarity with anatomy and physiology
• Knowledge of specimen collection, handling, and processing
• Understanding of safety protocols, including infection control and OSHA standards
• Experience with healthcare documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) systems
• Strong communication, organizational, and instructional skills
• Ability to develop and deliver engaging lectures, labs, and hands-on training
• Knowledge of and adherence to state and federal regulations, including CLIA, HIPAA, and Accrediting agency requirements for phlebotomy programs

The position is part-time and the schedule is contingent upon the needs of the School for Summer and Fall 2025 semesters.
