Part-Time Faculty: SPA 321: Introduction to Spanish Literature (Fall 2026)

About the role

The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics is seeking a part-time instructor to teach one 3-credit section of SPA 321 (Introduction to Spanish Literature) in the fall 2026 semester, which begins on August 24, 2026 (appointment begins on August 17, 2026).

Responsibilities

• Teaching assignments may include developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
• Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
• Preparation of lectures, projects, or other student assignments.
• Maintenance of regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week.
• Presentation of instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class.
• Maintenance of all designated class periods.
• If unable to meet with your class due to illness or emergency, rescheduling the class or obtaining a substitute.
• Notification of the department chair or their designated contact of your absence and plan to cover the class.
• Working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
• Submission of completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
• Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
• Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
• Completing all other course-related duties as outlined by your department's policies for part-time instructors.
• Building a positive rapport with the students and faculty.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree required.
• Native or near-native fluency required.
• Experience in university-level teaching preferred.
