About the role
We are seeking a part-time faculty member for our Cooperative Work Experience (CWE) program at North Seattle College. The position involves teaching CWE courses and meeting/coaching students on work-based learning experiences.
Responsibilities
- Teaching assigned CWE courses, such as CWE 101- Portfolio, Job Search Preparation and Job Shadow; CWE 110 - Internship; and CWE 495 - Baccalaureate Internship courses.
- Leading orientation for CWE courses during the first week of classes.
- Providing timely assessment and feedback to students on class assignments.
- Communicating with students in a regular and timely manner in relation to their learning.
- Ensuring course materials are accessible to students in compliance with digital accessibility standards.
- Making appointments and meeting with students during scheduled drop-in hours.
- Providing guidance for students in steps required to enroll in CWE courses.
- Providing evaluation for Prior Learning Assessments.
- Promoting the use of Handshake career platform to both students and employers.
- Providing assistance and coaching to students relating to internships, including:
- Information/referrals about current and potential internships.
- Advisement for searching and applying for internships.
- Coaching on networking, resumes, interviewing, etc. as needed.
- Engaging with employers as needed to expand and sustain partnership development.
- Communication with employers that are current or prospective partners.
- Exploration to find new internship opportunities that can be brought to students.
- Assisting employers in understanding work-based learning and their responsibilities in supervising internship experiences.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in business, education, social work, counseling, or a related field.
- Recent teaching experience with adult learners.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems, such as Canvas LMS.
- Experience in creating relationships with external partners such as employers, community organizations, and workforce development organizations.
- At least one year of experience working in an educational institution in advising, counseling, coaching, or otherwise providing student support; OR at least one year of experience working in a social service position assisting people with finding employment.
- Demonstrated commitment to bridging opportunity gaps for underrepresented and underserved student populations in their pursuit of success in their academic and career goals.

Pay
$9,598-$10,841 per quarter for a 3-credit CWE 110 course, plus a stipend of $40/hour for 4-6 hours per week per class.
