PART TIME FACULTY POOL - COMMUNICATION STUDIES (SPEECH COMMUNICATION)
About the role
This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill part-time (up to 67%), substitute, temporary, or hourly assignments on an as needed basis. Departments will refer to the pool of applications on file, as needed, to fill temporary assignments. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies.
Assignments
Applications for Part-Time Instructors are always being accepted for assignments at the main campus as well as teaching on-line and at off-campus sites located at Fort Irwin. Assignments are at the discretion of the District.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - Master's in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication or organizational communication OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in drama/ theater arts, mass communication or English OR the equivalent.
Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Desired Qualifications - Demonstrated proficiency in teaching at the community college level.
All course work and degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university.

Pay and Benefits
Barstow Community College offers health care benefits to benefits-eligible employees. Part-Time Faculty/Short-Term Temporary workers are not eligible for the District's benefits cap. However, Part-time faculty who have obtained preferred rehire status and have taught or served an average of at least 40% of a full-time faculty load for the past (2) two academic semesters (Fall and Spring) may apply for and shall be entitled to reimbursement pro-rated based on load or minimum of 50% of the District benefits cap.
