Part-Time Faculty Physical Therapist Assistant Instructor

Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-Time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on student enrollment needs. Part-time faculty may teach no more than 11.5 equivalent semester hours (ESH) per semester and 23 ESH per academic year, or 10 ESH combined for summer sessions.

About the Role

The Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated part-time faculty member for the Physical Therapist Assistant program. The primary responsibility includes visiting students weekly at an assigned clinical site(s). Instructors should exhibit professionalism, a strong commitment to students, and the ability to motivate and educate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned curriculum, answer questions, and conduct evaluations.
• Utilize Blackboard LMS for student contact, curriculum delivery, and assignments.
• Facilitate student learning in laboratory, classroom, and/or clinical locations.
• Evaluate skill performance and provide timely feedback to monitor student progress.
• Follow department guidelines to ensure consistent content coverage across course sections.
• Submit student mid-term and final course grades by established deadlines.
• Set up and return equipment appropriately.
• Demonstrate practical exercises and monitor student performance.
• Conduct planned lab skills evaluations.
• Utilize clinical performance software and Blackboard learning management system.
• Conduct student evaluations at clinical affiliates.
• Travel within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area to visit clinical sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and/or experience.
• Two years of clinical experience as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant.
• Current Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant license.
• Eligibility to acquire a license in Maryland, DC, and Virginia upon hire.
• Must live in Maryland or a state with payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence.
• Access to a personal computer with internet connectivity for remote work.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher.
• Prior teaching experience in a Physical Therapist Assistant program or equivalent coursework.
• Active clinical practice, particularly in skills relevant to course content.

For degrees earned outside the U.S., an education equivalency evaluation by a nationally recognized service must be included in the application. Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable) is required at the time of hire.
