Part-Time Faculty - Maritime (Firefighter/EMT)

About the role

Teaching both credit and non-credit USCG approved courses. Applications for part-time faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed if openings become available. These positions are not current vacancies.

Responsibilities

• Teach credit and non-credit USCG approved courses.
• Work on an "as needed" basis for the duration specified by the respective course.
• May be assigned evening and weekend classes.
• Deliver instruction using various methods based on teaching area, student needs, and college requirements, which may require physical presence at an on‑site work location.

Qualifications

• Associate degree (or higher) or, in lieu of a degree, proven extensive experience in Firefighting or Medical Care.
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in Firefighting or Medical Care professions.
• Good physical condition and strong swimming ability.
• Extensive knowledge of the Firefighting or Medical Care industry, equipment, and related industries.
• Working knowledge of computing software.
• Ability to function as a team player/leader with a high priority on student learning.
• Either hold a Texas Commission on Fire Protection Basic Firefighting I (or above) license or be Texas Certified as an EMT Basic, EMT‑Advance, or EMT‑Paramedic (or above).
• Must have or qualify for U.S. Coast Guard certification for instruction in a maritime program.

Pay

Salary Grade: AH. Salary is based on the Board‑approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year (see Salary Schedule).

Schedule

• Part‑time faculty are hired on an "as needed" basis and work for the duration specified by the respective course.
• Teaching assignments may include evening and weekend classes.
