Job Summary

Part time faculty are hired as needed on a semester-to-semester basis and typically teach up to nine credit hours during the semester. Columbia State offers classes at five campuses: Columbia Campus, Williamson Campus, Lawrenceburg Campus, Lewisburg Campus, and Clifton Campus. Classes are also offered at several off-campus locations and clinical sites.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Instructor Assistant - Currently licensed as a Tennessee EMT - Basic (or higher) without history of revocation, suspension, or denial of licensure. Minimum one-year pre-hospital experience. Minimum 75 hours EMS related teaching experience acceptable to the TN EMS Board and current BLS Instructor Certification.
  • Instructor Coordinator - Associate degree. Current TN EMT-Paramedic license without history of revocation, suspension, or denial of licensure. Two years’ experience practicing advanced life support in the pre-hospital environment; minimum 300 hours EMS related teaching experience (or two years EMS education administration). Current endorsement in an EMS Board approved trauma, cardiac, and pediatric course (instructor preferred). Completion of EMS Board approved Instructors’ course.

Pay

Salary is $560 per credit hour. Workload adjustments will be made for faculty teaching classes where the number of contact hours exceeds the number of credit hours. Additionally, a travel stipend may be negotiated at time of hire for faculty traveling more than 80 miles each week to teach their classes. For part-time faculty who continue to work at Columbia State, salary is based on collegiate level teaching experience documented during the first semester of teaching.
