Part-Time Faculty, Fire Technology

This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill part-time faculty (up to 67%) or temporary substitute assignments on an as-needed basis. Applications are accepted continually, and departments will refer to the pool as needed. Applicants remain in the pool for 12 months.

Basic Functions

This position involves part-time or temporary substitute faculty assignments in the Fire Technology program.

Requirements

• Minimum qualifications include:
  • Any bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional experience, OR
  • Any associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience, OR
  • The equivalent, as defined by the SFT Procedures Manual.
• An associate’s degree from an accredited institution and one (1) or more of the following certifications:
  • Certified SFT Fire and Emergency Services Instructor 1, or
  • Certified SFT Instructor I, or
  • Certified SFT Training Instructor 1, or
  • Certified SFT Fire Instructor 1, or
  • SFT Historically Recognized Fire Fighter 1 & 2 Academy Instructor, or
  • Ethical Leadership in the Classroom or Ethical Leadership for Instructors, or
  • Firefighter Instructors who were instructing on or before December 31, 2018, with SFT Fire Instructor 1A and 1B or SFT Training Instructor 1A and 1B.
• Transcripts must be included with your application.
• Applicants must have held the rank of Firefighter performing suppression duties within a recognized fire agency in California for a minimum of three (3) years.
• Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Qualifications

Candidates may qualify under one of the following options:

• Option 1: Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience + certification, or
• Option 2: Associate’s degree and six (6) years of experience + certification.
