Part-Time Faculty: ARC 585 Professional Practice (Fall 2026 and/or Spring 2027)

About the role

The School of Architecture seeks a part-time instructor to teach a 3-credit course on professional practice during the Fall (M/W, 2:15-3:35p; 3:45-5:05) and Spring (TBD) semesters. The course is a requirement for undergraduate and graduate students in their final year.

Responsibilities

• Developing a syllabus for ARC 585 that incorporates topics including, but not limited to, architect-client relations, legal and financial aspects of practice, business planning and ethics, project delivery and contracts, professional services, etc.
• Preparation of lectures, projects, or other assignments
• Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours
• Meting all designated class periods
• Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course
• Submitting final grades according to university regulations
• Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner
• Building a positive rapport with students

Qualifications

• Extensive professional architectural design practice experience and a record of recognized built work
• Strong intellectual and creative direction, in pursuit of innovative and progressive models of professional practice
• Teaching experience in an accredited professional architecture degree program
