About the role
Part-time faculty are hired as needed on a semester-to-semester basis and typically teach up to nine credit hours during the semester. Columbia State offers classes at five campuses: Columbia Campus, Williamson Campus, Lawrenceburg Campus, Lewisburg Campus, and Clifton Campus. Classes are also offered at several off-campus locations and clinical sites.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher with a major in Agriculture, Animal Science, Soil Science, or Plant Science
- Minimum of 18 graduate hours in the qualifying field

- Teaching experience
- Higher education experience
- Specialized instruction experience
Responsibilities
- Prepare for courses as assigned and adhere to departmental course syllabi and course minimum student learning outcomes
- Begin and end all classes as scheduled
- Organize, assign, and supervise learning activities of students in assigned classes
- Maintain academic standards and classroom behavior to ensure an environment conducive to learning
- Evaluate students using a variety of methods and inform each student of scores received on each assessment in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and grades
- Read Columbia State email and respond to student questions via email in a timely manner
- Meet deadlines for all administrative requests, including submitting personnel paperwork and student enrollment
Pay
Salary is $560 per credit hour. Workload adjustments will be made for faculty teaching classes where the number of contact hours exceeds the number of credit hours. Additionally, a travel stipend may be negotiated at the time of hire for faculty traveling more than 80 miles each week to teach their classes.
