Part-Time Evening CDL Driver

About the Role

This position combines driving a trolley on busy public streets with entertaining and educating visitors about historic Washington, DC. The role requires a good sense of fun, excellent driving skills, and the ability to narrate sightseeing tours multiple times per shift.

Responsibilities

• Drive a non-air-conditioned trolley safely and competently on busy public streets while narrating a scripted sightseeing tour 4 to 5 times daily.
• Enhance the guest experience by playing video clips at specific tour locations as outlined in the script.
• Interact with the general public and diverse company employees in a prompt and courteous manner.
• Handle stressful situations and difficult individuals professionally, both in person and via radio.
• Maintain radio contact with dispatch during tours.

Requirements

• Ability to learn and memorize scripted tours and routes.
• Ability to work independently for long periods while adhering to established rules and meeting guest needs.
• Ability to handle unpleasant, angry, or discourteous individuals in a calm and courteous manner.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking clear English to communicate with coworkers, the public, law enforcement, and emergency personnel, and to complete required paperwork accurately.
• Ability to adapt to new duties, policies, and procedures within a reasonable timeframe.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid DC, VA, or MD CDL Class B with airbrake and passenger endorsements and an acceptable driving record for the past three years.
• Must pass pre-employment MVR/background check and substance abuse testing.
• Must pass a DOT physical.
• Valid DC city tour guide license.
