Part Time Equipment Operator-Utility
Description
Martin Marietta is currently looking for energized individuals to join their team at their open pit limestone quarry in Cedar Rapids, IA. This position would be responsible for operating a haul truck.
About the role
The Cedar Rapids Quarry is an essential engine for Eastern Iowa’s growth and connectivity. It fuels the expansion of regional infrastructure, from the revitalization of local commerce to the reinforcement of neighborhood foundations.
Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of off-road haul trucks and other equipment utilized in mining which could include loaders, skid loaders, etc.
- Perform daily inspection of vehicle and work area assigned
- Observe visual and auditory signals during vehicle operation
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, clean equipment
- Assist on plant maintenance and repairs as needed
- Other mining related duties as required
- Operate any of our equipment and any daily work assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- 1+ years of related experience
- Valid US driver’s license
Skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of MSHA regulations
- Effective verbal communication
- Knowledge of machines and tools including their design, use and maintenance
Physical Abilities
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment year-round
- General physical activities include climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, reach with hands and arms, and handling material
