Requirements

  • Valid Utah State Driver's License
  • Current Utah State EMT/AEMT or Paramedic License (in good standing and current with Utah Bureau of EMS)
  • Current American Heart Association BLS CPR provider certification (or equivalent and listed as approved by Utah Bureau of EMS)
  • Paramedic: Current ACLS/PALS (or equivalent and listed as approved by Utah Bureau of EMS)
  • Successfully complete an EMS skills evaluation commensurate with level of Utah state EMS license
  • Available for a minimum of 48 hours each month

Qualifications

  • Part-Time EMT/AEMT and Paramedic (Non-Firefighting) positions are paid on an hourly basis
  • Staffed on ambulances housed at select fire stations within the service area
  • Be available for a minimum of 48 hours each month
  • Shifts are 12-hour periods from 0900-2100 and from 0700-0700 for 24-hour shifts
  • Positions provide medical stand-by needs at various large gathering events year-round and valley-wide
  • Position requires lifting heavier objects up and down flights of stairs

Pay

FY26/27 Pay Plan:

  • EMT/AEMT: Starting Hourly Rate $18.94, increases to $19.52 after 6 months, $20.11 after 1.5 years, and $20.68 after 2.5 years
  • Paramedic: Starting Hourly Rate $30.18

Schedule

  • Shifts are 12-hour periods from 0900-2100 and from 0700-0700 for 24-hour shifts
  • Available for a minimum of 48 hours each month

Interviews

  • Candidates who successfully pass the skills evaluation will be invited to an interview

  • Orientation Meeting: September 17, 2026 (virtual, lasts up to 2 hours)
  • Required Training: October 5-14, 2026 (full 8-10 hour days, including a lunch break)
  • EMS Week: October 26-29, 2026
  • Graduation: November 2, 2026
