Key Responsibilities
- Aid in training and support on digital accessibility tools, techniques, and best practices.
- Review and remediate digital documents, including Word, PowerPoint, PDF, and other electronic materials, to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
- Help faculty and staff create and format accessible course materials, communications, and resources.
- Conduct accessibility evaluations using approved tools such as Microsoft Accessibility Checker and other accessibility testing resources.
- Support the creation of accessible multimedia content by assisting with captioning, transcripts, and other accommodations.
- Manage and track accessibility requests through a digital ticketing system, ensuring timely follow-up and completion.
- Provide excellent customer service while supporting accessibility-related projects and initiatives.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience supporting digital accessibility initiatives in educational, professional, or other complex digital environments.
- Working knowledge of digital accessibility standards and guidelines, including WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines.
- Ability to explain accessibility concepts to individuals with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Experience reviewing and remediating digital content for accessibility, including documents, presentations, PDFs, multimedia, and web-based content.
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro or similar PDF editing tools for accessibility tagging and remediation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with the ability to create and edit accessible documents.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with faculty, staff, and technical stakeholders.
- Experience using accessibility evaluation tools, such as screen readers, automated testing tools, accessibility checkers, and captioning platforms.
