About the role
This position is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on various types of diesel trucks and trailers to keep them in safe working condition. You will work on a private fleet of equipment consisting mainly of Ready Mix trucks, dump trucks, tractor/side dumps, and pneumatic trucks/trailers. A professional and courteous attitude with customers and team members is required.
Schedule
Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM (up to 25 hours per week).
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs of a significant nature on all types of equipment and/or assist with repairs, improvements, and maintenance to ensure safe working condition.
- Safely operate equipment, standard and specialty tools, welders, hoists, and other lifting devices on a daily basis.
- Troubleshoot equipment maintenance problems to properly diagnose components and determine the method and extent of repair necessary.
- Read, interpret, analyze, and apply information in technical manuals and schematics.
- Anticipate needed parts and supplies, disassemble equipment and parts, fabricate parts when needed, and reassemble equipment and parts.
- Use cutting torch and perform welding tasks.
- Clean work areas and fill out shop repair orders daily.
- Drive and maintain mechanic's truck.
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) with frequent contact and communication within and outside the company.
- Demonstrate self-motivation, teamwork, and excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work independently or in a team setting while maintaining positive customer relations.
- Handle multiple projects and priorities while maintaining tight deadlines; highly organized with attention to detail.
- Accurately complete work orders or other maintenance repair documentation.
- Ensure OSHA, DOT, MSHA, EPA, DNR, safety, and environmental regulation compliance.
- May be required to operate and maintain a company vehicle to perform field service repairs and operate repaired equipment to ensure proper working condition after repairs.
- Provide own basic hand tools, pneumatics, and some specialty tools. A tool allowance is available.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3+ years minimum experience working with semi-trucks and trailers.
- Ability to diagnose components, troubleshoot, repair, communicate, and document.
- Ability to hold and maintain proper licensure and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, possible nights, and some Saturdays.
- CDL is a plus.
