Responsibilities
- Perform hemodialysis treatment procedures safely and efficiently.
- Provide specialized registered nursing care in accordance with state law.
- Utilize professional nursing knowledge to act as a resource for staff.
- Assume primary nurse responsibilities as directed.
- Communicate significant information to appropriate team members.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate appropriate care plans for patients.
- Delegate responsibilities appropriately and ensure they are carried out.
- Assume day-to-day functions of the Charge Nurse in absence.
- Understand and follow legal consequences of nursing actions.
- Promote education of patients and understanding of their disease and treatment.
- Assist in building and maintaining a facility/clinic culture of safety and quality.
- Report errors and near misses to prevent recurrence.
- Report any negative feedback, complaints, grievances from other staff members, patients, and families.
- Use evidence-based guidelines and proper infection control practices.
- Develop and/or participate in in-service education programs.
- Assist in orientation of new staff members.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in continuing education.
- Prepare daily dialysis logs and set-ups for each shift of patients.
- Prepare, record, and file laboratory reports.
- Stock and order necessary blood work supplies.
- Help maintain a neat and clean environment.
- Check email at least weekly and respond appropriately and timely.
- Work the full schedule which may range from five to fifteen hours per day, based on unit requirements.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school or equivalent.
- Current RN License for Kansas and current CPR certification (within three months of hire).
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English.
- One year of Hemodialysis RN experience (two to three years preferred).
Qualifications
- Strong technical/computer proficiency with laptops, tablets, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.
