About the role
Joss & Main is a Wayfair specialty retail store located in Burlington, MA - Burlington Mall. This internship offers hands-on experience in retail sales, customer service, and interior design.
Responsibilities
- Observe and eventually provide an authentic, friendly customer experience that exemplifies Joss & Main's commitment to relentless customer focus.
- Leverage your interior design and sales skills to assist Design Advisors in helping customers navigate design projects during in-store appointments and on-site visits.
- Support the preparation of design deliverables like mood boards and floor plans, and lead product sourcing efforts for large projects.
- Learn to utilize customer relationship management (CRM) and design software tools to manage projects and develop customer presentations.
- Gain expertise in fabric & finishes, learning about performance, texture, durability, and market trends using digital and physical swatches.
- Develop professional time management skills by supporting Design Advisors during appointments and sales floor interactions.
- Participate in foundational operational activities as needed, such as bringing new products to the floor, floor sets, replenishment, and substitutions.
- Bring a willingness to share innovative ideas and solutions to continuously improve team operations.
- Build immediate, authentic rapport with every customer to uncover their unique design needs and provide a personalized shopping experience.
- Drive store revenue by using expert product knowledge to overcome objections and move customers from initial inspiration to a completed purchase.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in interior design, architectural design, marketing, retail, or a related field (preferred).
- A clear understanding of basic design principles (spatial planning, fabric selection, styles and trends, etc.) is a strong plus.
- A passion for design, excellent customer service, and a drive to learn about achieving sales goals.
- Proficiency in Google Suites and/or Microsoft Office applications is preferred. Exposure to design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Revit is a bonus.
- Strong organization, self-motivation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to work within a team sales environment and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include some nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to potentially travel for shadowing in-home consultations, if necessary for learning purposes.
Qualifications
This position is designed for students eager to learn and apply academic knowledge in a real-world setting. No prior experience is required.
Skills
While not required, proficiency in design software tools and product knowledge is preferred.

Pay
The base pay for this position is $24.50 per hour. The base pay offered may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Schedule
This is a Part Time role with a maximum of 25 hours/week.
