Part-Time Dental Assistant

About the Role

This position involves independent performance of complex dental assisting duties across multiple specialties, including restorative, endodontics, prosthodontics, implantology, and oral surgery, under general administrative supervision. The role supports career development within the federal healthcare system at the full performance level (GS-06).

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care in restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, implantology, and oral surgery procedures.
• Prepare operatory and surgical suites, including sterilization and setup of instruments and equipment.
• Pass instruments and materials during dental procedures.
• Prepare and mix dental materials for clinical use.
• Capture and process digital and conventional radiographs.
• Demonstrate and enforce infection control procedures and safety protocols.
• Manage advanced use of computerized dental records and imaging systems.
• Monitor patient conditions and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
• Maintain and troubleshoot dental equipment.

Requirements

• Experience or education in dental assisting, including proficiency in dental procedures, imaging, and equipment maintenance.
• Certification in dental radiography.
• U.S. citizenship and proficiency in English.
• Successful completion of background checks and pre-employment assessments.
• No virtual work component; on-site presence required.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Two years of experience with radiographs certification.
• Ability to accurately perform clinical tasks and utilize dental technology.
• Adherence to safety and infection control protocols.
