Part-time Custodian Floater

About the role

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a Custodian Floater to join our team on Maui. We perform janitorial building services, mechanical engineering, HVAC and maintenance services for commercial, retail and residential properties across Hawai'i, as well as restoration services for water damage, fire damage, and mold remediation on Oahu.

Schedule & pay

• Part-time position
• Hourly Pay Rate: $16.00
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM (15 hours per week)

Responsibilities

• Ability to travel to various assigned worksites within a single day
• Competence in performing tasks under any weather conditions
• Execute scheduled cleaning services according to site timelines
• Maintain a safe and pleasant environment for all occupants
• Pay attention to detail and demonstrate willingness to learn
• Work both independently and collaboratively within a team
• Properly utilize and care for custodial equipment and supplies
• Report any issues to the Supervisor while safeguarding client property
• Ensure cleanliness of communal areas by:
  • Sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces
  • Vacuuming floors and carpets
  • Emptying trash bins and disposing of waste in designated areas
  • Restocking supplies as needed
  • Cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces such as counters, door handles, and elevators
  • Cleaning glass doors, entry areas, and interior surfaces
  • Cleaning restrooms, maintaining entry mats and lobby spaces
  • Tidying lunchroom or breakroom counters and sinks
  • Inspecting and cleaning sidewalks, parking areas, and entrances
  • Ensuring cleanliness of ATMs and other assigned locations
  • Maintaining furniture and fixtures effectively
• Ensure all tasks are completed with consistent cleanliness, showcasing attention to detail and adhering to HBM's performance standards: clean, complete, inspect, correct, and report
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the HBM Supervisor

Qualifications

• Must pass HBM prescreen check
• Must have a valid Hawaii driver's license and reliable vehicle
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred
• Previous janitorial, custodian experience or related experience is preferred; willing to train
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English
• Must have good public relations skills and communication
• Must perform basic manual labor, clean common areas, press, push, pull, frequently lift 40lbs, carry a minimum of 25lbs (up to 50lbs), be able to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, walk, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk up and down stairs, use a ladder to climb up and down, and stand throughout shifts
