Part-Time Custodian

Part-time/on-call custodial position supporting Haleakalā National Park’s Summit District on Maui, Hawaiʻi. Current schedule is 8–10 hours per week with potential for increased hours or transition to full-time when opportunities arise.

Responsibilities

• Provide custodial services for two visitor centers, several administrative offices, one campground, and multiple trailheads.
• Basic cleaning services:
  • Remove trash and recycling
  • Clean and disinfect mirrors and drinking fountains
  • General spot cleaning and disinfecting
  • Dusting
• Restroom disinfecting:
  • Descale toilet bowls and urinals
  • Sweep, mop, and disinfect floors
  • Stock restroom supplies
• Graffiti removal and minor repairs (e.g., unclogging toilets).
• Emergency cleaning and assistance with special events.
• Periodic deep cleaning.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Two years of custodial work experience.
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Time-management skills to complete tasks within designated schedules while maintaining quality.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Attention to detail to ensure facilities are well-maintained and presentable to visitors.
• Ability to use small and portable hand and power tools.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a federal background check.

Pay

$28.00 – $30.00 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, market conditions, and applicable laws.
