Summary Of Responsibilities
This position is responsible for properly and safely cleaning the facility as established in the cleaning schedule and procedures, and for maintaining high quality of cleaning. Also, responsible for performing other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Essential Duties And Functions
- Remove and replace plastic liners from trash receptacles and take trash to designated trash bin
- Mop floors with dust mop
- Mop floors and warehouse with wet mop using appropriate disinfectant
- Dust all woodwork, office furniture (desks, chairs, and tables), file cabinets, counter tops and shelves
- Vacuum floors and carpets with vacuum cleaner
- Sweep out warehouse with broom
- Clean all sinks with approved disinfectant
- Clean all rest rooms with approved cleaners
- Scrub laboratory floors with appropriate disinfectant
- Buff floors with appropriate cleaning equipment
- Communicate all information pertinent to cleaning procedures, equipment, cleaning solutions, problems, or personnel issues to the Environmental Services Supervisor
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred; not required
- One to two years’ experience cleaning commercial facilities preferred
- Must be dependable, well organized, and be able to communicate effectively and efficiently
Technical Competencies
- Computer proficient for email, document training, reviews, and time clock
- Knowledge of and ability to operate various housekeeping machines and equipment
- Knowledge of and ability to use all cleaning chemicals in a proper and safe manner
- Ability to visually measure and mix cleaning chemicals
- Ability to visually inspect work to ensure cleanliness
- Ability to read, understand and comply with all safety procedures, and company policies and procedures
- Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the Employee-Right-To-Know Program
- Ability to wear required laboratory clean room clothing (shoe covers) and other safety/protective equipment (mask and/or face shield, rubber gloves) for extended periods of time
Work Environment/Travel Demands
- The work environment is a climate-controlled biological/chemical laboratory.
- Occasional short durations to cold temperatures inside walk-in coolers.
Physical/Mental Demands
- Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- This also includes standing for up to two and a half hours consecutively, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, stooping, fingering, and grasping.
- Expressing and receiving detailed information through written and oral communication.
- Also has an ability to make sound, appropriate, and prompt decisions within the guidelines of the role.
