About the role
The Part-Time Cook will assist the Executive Chef in all phases of meal preparation, including preparing salad bar offerings, desserts, and bakery items. You will maintain the highest standards of sanitation and safety in kitchen operations, food preparation, and storage, and ensure proper labeling and storage of food items. You will also assist in the procurement of food inventory and supplies, and perform scheduled cleaning of equipment and work areas.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef in all phases of meal preparation.
- Prepare salad bar offerings, desserts, and bakery items.
- Maintain the highest standards of sanitation and safety in kitchen operations, food preparation, and storage.
- Apply working knowledge of culinary methods related to ingredient preparation and recipe execution.
- Properly label and store food items according to safe storage standards.
- Understand and maintain kitchen equipment (food processor, dishwasher, convection oven, etc.).
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including floors.
- Create and prepare baked food items, breads, and desserts.
- Perform scheduled cleaning of equipment and work areas as planned by the Executive Chef.
- Assist in procurement of food inventory and supplies.
Requirements
- Maintain a current ServSafe certification or be able to obtain it.
- One year of job-related experience, including food preparation, full-line menu items, and special diets.
- High school diploma or GED accepted.
- Competent in organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrate good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Physical Abilities
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use fine and gross motor skills, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and smell.
- Must be able to lift or carry up to 50 lbs using proper body mechanics.
Pay
$22.00 - $24.00 hourly
