About the role

VSA Partners is seeking an experienced Part-Time Controller / Senior Accounting Consultant to support the accounting and financial needs of Meet The People, a multi-entity organization. This role will provide hands-on accounting and financial support across multiple entities and brands.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the intercompany elimination process and ensure appropriate accounting and reconciliation across entities.
  • Support Canadian tax strategy, including deferred tax assets and cross-border loan activity.
  • Operate and maintain the consolidated trial balance model, coordinating closely with the finance team.
  • Review accounting policies and balance sheet accounts, identifying discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain a Chart of Accounts for Meet The People's Canadian entity.
  • Support the Loomis accounting transition, coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth handoff.
  • Provide a second set of eyes across month-end close processes, reviewing accounting activity and identifying items requiring additional attention.
  • Support ad hoc technical accounting, reporting, and financial analysis as needed.

Qualifications

  • CPA required; significant senior-level finance and technical accounting experience may also be considered.
  • 8–15 years of relevant finance/accounting experience, with strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to confidently review trial balances, intercompany entries, and balance sheet activity.
  • Experience working in a multi-entity or multi-brand environment.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with senior leaders and entity-level VPs through influence rather than direct authority.
  • ERP implementation or migration experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable working with imperfect or evolving data and building reliable analysis and reporting while systems and processes are still being refined.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in media, marketing services, advertising/agency, or professional services is preferred.
  • Able to work independently, prioritize competing needs, and step into a fast-moving environment with minimal ramp-up time.
