Part Time Coach Pool (2026-2027)

About the role

The Department of Athletics at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for a pool of part-time Coaches. These appointments are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the appointment period. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Responsibilities

• Aid in coaching a highly competitive program competing in the NCAA Division I Big West Conference
• Recruit Division I-quality student-athletes
• Maintain the academic progress of student-athletes
• Lead, monitor, and coordinate training and practice sessions while ensuring safety guidelines are met
• Comply with NCAA, University, and Big West rules and regulations
• Work with the head coach on travel coordination, scheduling, and practice planning
• Conduct scouting and statistical analysis of recruits and opponents
• Collaborate with Athletics administration and staff on program responsibilities and policy compliance
• Engage in marketing the program on campus and within the community through public appearances, fundraising, and promotional efforts

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Three years of Division I collegiate coaching experience or four years playing experience at the NCAA Division I level and five years coaching at the high school, club, or non-Division I NCAA level, or equivalent
• Proven ability to recruit highly skilled student-athletes and a demonstrated commitment to their academic progress
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
• Ability to interact successfully with a wide and culturally diverse range of students and work harmoniously with students and colleagues
• Demonstrated competitive coaching ability and skills
• Must be able to drive a vehicle and have a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

• NCAA Division I coaching experience and knowledge of various scouting and video editing software systems

Compensation

The Temporary Assistant Coach classification salary range is $6,288 to $7,658 per month. Anticipated hiring salary depends on experience and qualifications and is fractionalized based on the base rate of $6,288 per month. The full-time monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the time base assigned. Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work (https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/california_equal_pay_act.htm).

Additional Information

California State University, Fullerton is not a sponsoring agency (i.e., H1-B Visas) for this position. Applicants will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position, and before an offer of employment is extended. CA Driver's License

A valid California driver's license. If out-of-state license, a California driver's license must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
