Part-Time Children’s Choir Conductor

Organization: Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Location: 55 Cranberry Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201
Salary: $120 per call

Responsibilities

• Direct weekly rehearsals for children ages 6–10.
• Prepare the choir for Sunday Masses throughout the season.
• Teach healthy vocal technique and basic musicianship.
• Select and prepare age-appropriate sacred repertoire.
• Create a positive, engaging, and welcoming rehearsal environment.
• Communicate with parents as needed.
• Collaborate with parish staff.

Schedule

• Weekly Rehearsals: Mondays, 4:45–5:45 PM (September–June, following the school calendar)
• Sunday Masses: Approximately seven per season
  • 8:30 AM – Rehearsal
  • 9:30 AM – Mass (concludes at approximately 10:30 AM)

An accompanist will be provided for all rehearsals and Masses.

Requirements

• Experience conducting children’s choirs.
• Strong conducting and rehearsal skills.
• Ability to work well with children and families.
• Familiarity with Catholic liturgy is preferred.
• Degree in music or equivalent professional experience preferred.
