Part Time, Children's Learning Center Teacher
About the role
The lead classroom teacher will provide care and educational opportunities for children enrolled in the program. Typical functions include devising and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans, preparing materials, maintaining a guidance plan, ensuring a safe learning environment, assisting with inventory management, establishing home/school connections, using active listening skills, communicating effectively, being a role model, and assisting with administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Devise and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with the program mission and educational standards.
- Prepare materials to support planned activities.
- Maintain a guidance plan through proactive strategies and encourage positive social behavior.
- Maintain and support a safe learning environment.
- Assist with inventory and proper utilization of supplies and consumables.
- Establish and maintain home/school connections.
- Utilize and model active listening skills.
- Communicate effectively with children, families, co-workers, and LCCC's faculty/staff.
- Be a role model for adult learners assigned to the classroom.
- Assist Children's Learning Center administrators in meeting all regulations and program needs.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Willingness to complete required in-service trainings.
- Must meet all required DCY childcare staff member licensing regulations, including extensive background check.
- Minimum of 1 year toddler teaching experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work with young children and families.
Qualifications
- Current approved training in CPR/First Aid, Management of Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse Recognition.
- 3 years teaching experience.
- Current State of Ohio Associate Teaching License or eligibility for licensure.
- Familiarity with Conscious Discipline and the Ohio Early Learning Assessment.
Pay
Commodore Kids Teachers are part-time employees who have access to the campus facilities and are actively involved in the children’s learning process. Salary is commensurate with experience.
