Part-Time Cafe Cashier

About the role

The Cashier runs one of the two cashier stations/registers for the RCS cafe during school lunches.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Communicate with children and adults as they come through the café line
• Work with the Director of Food Services & Finance Department to coordinate purchases of lunches in the café system.
• Help to maintain cashier stations in the café.
• Custodial tasks such as sweeping, wiping, cleaning, restocking supplies, preparing beverages and food cups.
• Maintain professional and effective relationships with all RCS staff, students, and families.

SKILLS

• Skilled at oral and written communication
• Skilled at basic math
• Skilled at personal computer and keyboarding
• Skilled at customer service including attentive and active listening with all staff, students, parent/guardians and community members

KNOWLEDGE

• Knowledge of operating personal computers, peripherals and typical office equipment

ABILITIES

• Able to manage multiple priorities and multi-task with frequent interruptions
• Able to be flexible in times of change and adapt to changing environments and priorities

OTHER

All other duties designated.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Compensation: $15.16 per hour
• Sick leave

QUALIFICATIONS

• A High School diploma or equivalent is required
• Experience cashiering is a plus
• Excellent people skills, able to talk and relate to children and adults
• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and able to adapt to changing environments

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Cashier to the RCS Cafe position requires intermittent physical activity including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and lifting up to 40lbs on occasion. Must be able to talk, hear, stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must possess normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
