About the role

Lionel Vatinet, along with his wife and partner Missy, opened La Farm Bakery in Cary, North Carolina in 1999. The bakery's founding philosophy is rooted in the experience and tutelage of Vatinet’s training in France’s prestigious artisans' guild, Les Compagnons du Devoir.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure and exude world-class customer service and sales to internal and external customers. Say “bonjour” to every customer and engage verbally with each customer.
  • Create coffee, expresso, latte, teas, and other specialty drinks on and off menu with expertise and suggestively sell products based on customer needs.
  • Demonstrate expertise in equipment and tools such as machines, brewers, grinders, etc., and ensure proper orders are made efficiently to meet ticket time goals.
  • Prepare specialty coffee drinks (including latte art) on demand in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deliver coffee and food orders to customers, confirming orders, assist in pre-busing and busing tables throughout the shift, prepare syrups from scratch, open, close, and maintain the coffee station, answer the phone to La Farm standards, complete daily checklists, perform side work as necessary, ensure overall unit safety and sanitation goals, maintain grade “A” or better by beating health and sanitation inspection standards, uphold company standards and policies for opening/closing, ensure safe working conditions, and comply with all laws.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, multitasking, and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and a sense of urgency to serve every customer.
  • Have experience with customer service and/or food service, passion for great coffee, ability to work with a manual espresso machine, problem-solving skills, relationship-building skills, flexibility to work weekends and holidays, high attention to detail, ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships, multi-lingual skills, and the ability to bend and lift 25 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Experience with a manual espresso machine.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and demonstrated sense of urgency to serve every customer.
  • Passion for great coffee (must be able to drink coffee).
  • Ability to solve business-related problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Great relationship-building skills and demonstrated positive demeanor as a team player.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
  • Flexibility required: Weekends required, holiday work required, two days off (not consecutive).
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Multi-lingual a plus.
  • Ability to bend and lift 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
