General Summary or Purpose

Major Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Prepares the jury deliberation room for jurors with the items they will need, such as beverages, note taking materials, and other items allowed and provided by the assigned clerk.
- Welcome jurors and re-assemble them after recesses, at mealtimes, and when they return to the court for the next day of jury duty. Jurors must not be left unattended.
- Escorts jurors to and from the courtroom and for mealtimes or other events.
- Remains with jurors in the courtroom and attends to their needs.
- Communicates any concern or misbehavior of the jurors to the assigned clerk.
- During recesses, monitors the restrooms and corridors to prevent contact by jurors with counsel, litigants, witnesses, and spectators.
- Creates a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere while not discussing the case, commenting, or answering questions that might influence the jury.
- Performs other duties of a comparable level or type or as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications & Certification or Licensing Requirements
- Requires a United States citizenship and physical residence within the judicial district served, unless physical residence is waived by the presiding judge of the judicial district.

Physical Requirements

Temporary Employees Information
- Temporary employees who work a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 20 weeks each year are eligible to participate in the retirement plan and life insurance at the employee's expense.
