About the role
We are seeking up to four part-time Athletic Trainers to support our middle school athletic program by providing high-quality injury prevention, care, and rehabilitation services in a school-based setting. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student-athletes while working collaboratively with coaches, families, medical professionals, and school administrators.
Position Overview
Athletic Trainers work closely with school administrators, coaches, and students to support the physical well-being of middle school athletes. This role combines hands-on athletic training, injury management, communication with families, and leadership in student-focused programming.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the athletic training room, focusing on injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation
- Develop and manage a student athletic trainer program
- Coordinate and oversee student-athlete physicals
- Collaborate with local physicians and physical therapists for rehabilitation and return-to-play plans
- Document and maintain accurate injury records and emergency cards
- Communicate injury updates with parents, coaches, and the building administrator
- Manage training supplies, inventory, and assist with budget planning
- Attend football practices and games, as well as home athletic events and select away games (especially basketball and soccer)
- Be available on school grounds during athletic practices
- Maintain and update athlete records in the EMR system (Healthy Roster)
- Set up and support Tele-Health options through the EMR app
- Send parent invitations and respond to questions related to sports-related injuries, including those occurring during off-campus training
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or a related field
- Valid Athletic Trainer certification/license
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic school environment
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Fast-paced middle school setting with frequent interruptions and competing priorities
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Manual dexterity for computer and EMR use
- Ability to clearly hear, speak, and follow oral and written instructions
