Part-time Associate - 702 Goleta

About the role

The Part-time Associate at Smart & Final, 702 Goleta, works in a fast-paced grocery warehouse environment. This position requires the ability to read and write English, interact with the public, and perform various tasks including stocking shelves, operating cash registers, and providing customer service.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a store section as assigned and may order, receive, and stock merchandise.
• Ensure proper pricing on merchandise and check product date codes for proper rotation.
• Stock shelves, end displays, floor stacks, displays, and refrigerated/frozen cases.
• Prepare perishable products for sale.
• Set up advertising/promotional displays.
• Review invoices/bills for accuracy.
• Clean and maintain sanitation standards in all interior and exterior areas of the store and parking lot.
• Operate a cash register, process payments, and make change or process check/charge/debit transactions.
• Process cash and/or credit refunds, when approved by management.
• Verify customer eligibility when selling alcoholic beverages.
• Offer friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous assistance to customers.
• Load customer purchases by assisting customers to their vehicles.
• Perform basic bookkeeping duties.
• Record lost/damaged goods and store supplies using appropriate tools.

Requirements

• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to interact with the general public and co-workers.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Qualifications

• Basic PC/Outlook skills.
• Retail Management Certificate (preferred).
