Crowd Surf is seeking a highly organized and skilled Part-Time Assistant Video Editor to support the director/editor of a feature-length documentary centered on a high-profile client. This is a hands-on, collaborative role for someone who is equally comfortable managing a large volume of footage, maintaining an exceptionally organized post-production workflow, and jumping into an edit alongside the director.
Responsibilities
- Ingest, sort, organize, and manage a high volume of footage
- Maintain meticulous project files, folder structures and asset organization
- Work alongside the director/editor in real time via Zoom
- Complete independent editing assignments based on the director’s notes and creative direction
- Help maintain an efficient post-production workflow throughout the project
- Support the director’s creative vision while bringing strong editorial instincts and attention to detail to the process
Requirements
- Strong proficiency with professional video editing software and post-production workflows
- Exceptional media management and organizational skills
- Strong understanding of storytelling, pacing, graphics, and sound design
- Ability to take detailed creative direction and execute independently
- Comfortable collaborating remotely and editing alongside a director via Zoom
- Reliable, detail-oriented, communicative, and able to maintain confidentiality
- A computer and editing setup capable of efficiently processing and managing high volumes of media
- Documentary, long-form, or assistant editing experience is strongly preferred
Schedule
- Part-time: approximately 10–20 hours per week
- Flexible scheduling during standard working hours (9:00 AM–6:00 PM ET)
- Anticipated through December 2026, with the possibility of extending based on the project timeline
Pay
- Hourly compensation based on experience
- Monthly computer and phone stipend will be provided

This documentary involves a high-profile client and sensitive material. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent judgment, professionalism, and the utmost discretion and confidentiality throughout the project.
