Part Time Assistant Teacher
About the role
The Goddard School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team. This position will assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, supporting children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, preparing classroom materials, ensuring a safe and inviting learning environment, supervising daily care routines, and communicating with families.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the implementation of age-appropriate lesson plans
- Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions
- Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean, and inviting learning environment
- Support daily care routines for children, including diaper changing procedures
- Supervise and provide individualized support to children, fostering a sense of belonging
- Communicate with families about their child’s progress and daily activities
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment
- Assist in daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment
Requirements
- A high school diploma is required
- An associate or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred
- Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting is required
- Show empathy and compassion for young children
- Work productively without supervision
- Have a basic understanding of child development
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
