About the role

The Bletz Lab is seeking a part time worker to assist with multiple aspects of amphibian research, including work on infectious diseases affecting frogs and salamanders. The lab maintains a colony of amphibians and is developing captive-breeding methods to produce disease-resistant individuals and identify effective treatments. Additional projects involve sampling preparation and processing using microbiological and molecular techniques related to amphibians, disease, and the pet trade. The opening is for the Fall 2026 Semester with the possibility of future semesters.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in amphibian research projects
  • Design and set up breeding plans for frogs and salamanders
  • Maintenance of terrariums
  • Perform molecular and microbial sampling processing
  • Learn about daily amphibian care and health monitoring

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies
