Part Time After School Educator (Desoto)

About the role

Right At School provides local school districts with before and after school extended day programs focusing on disguised learning activities and daily enrichment. The role of an Educator involves daily program meetings, organizing and facilitating activities, leading by example, prioritizing safety and joy, and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Daily Program Meetings: Review goals and updates, share ideas, discuss professional progress, encourage collaboration, and team accountability.
  • Organize and Facilitate Daily Activities: Prepare activities and curriculum for the day, ensuring alignment with program objectives. Lead structured daily fitness, activities, and curriculum.
  • Leading by Example: Maintain a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring children enjoy themselves while meeting program goals. Model positive guidance and effective classroom management.
  • Prioritize Safety and Joy: Monitor the environment, address potential hazards, and follow safety protocols. Document attendance, incidents, and observations.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with a varied audience, including children, parents, staff, and school personnel.

Requirements

  • Ability to meet state-specific requirements;
  • 18+ years of age;
  • Proof of a High School diploma/GED required;
  • Six months of experience working in a licensed childcare setting.

Qualifications

  • Outstanding customer service and relationship-building skills;
  • Works well in a team environment;
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 years of age;
  • Ability to lift 25lbs;
  • Drive to inspire a love for learning and commitment to healthy living;
  • Flexibility to support additional local programs as needed.

Skills

  • Effective communication with a varied audience, including children, parents, staff, and school personnel;
  • Ability to meet state-specific requirements; CPR, Mandated Reporter training, TB test, etc.

Pay

$15 - $18 per hour (depending on years of experience and education in related field although not required)

Schedule

Monday through Friday (Must be able to work Monday through Friday) After School program 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm (may vary slightly)
